In the winter of 2002-2003, Donjon Marine performed a series of heavy-lifts involving the removal and disposal of a number of steel bridge spans and concrete pier caps from the Route-9 Bridge located in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The work was performed by both the 1,000-ton capacity Donjon derrick barges Chesapeake 1000 and Columbia New York. the largest lifts were over 150 feet. In total, over 9,500 tons of material was removed and disposed of; some in shallow water conditions which required specialized ballast and transportation plans.
