Donjon Marine Adds Two Tugs to Fleet
for Salvage, Coastal and Ocean Towing

Hillside, New Jersey, USA
February 24, 1998

Donjon Marine's latest two additions to its growing fleet of derricks, dredges, barges and tugs are nearly complete and will soon be plying both domestic and international waters. The ATLANTIC SALVOR, a 7,000 hp tug and the MARY ALICE, a 3,600 hp tug, have been undergoing major refurbishment under the direction of Donjon Marine at Bollinger Shipyard in Larose, Louisiana.

The MARY ALICE will primarily be used to support Donjon's own missions which include towing their derricks to various ports along the U.S. East Coast in order to provide heavy-lift services and assist in salvage operations for the commercial industry as well as for the U. S. Government under its U. S. Navy salvage contract. Powered by a pair of Caterpillar D399TAs and with a fuel capacity of nearly 50,000 gallons the MARY ALICE will undoubtedly prove to be an invaluable resource to Donjon Marine as it makes tows up and down the eastern seaboard utilizing its Intercon DD 150 double drum towing winch.

The ATLANTIC SALVOR, an offshore tug powered by twin ALCO 16-25IF engines, enough staterooms to accommodate fifteen personnel and a fuel capacity which will allow the tug to tow without refueling for over 40 days, will be marketed for long-haul towing of large vessels in addition to performing salvage tows, an area where Donjon Marine has had much experience over the past decade. One of the most impressive attributes of this 149' tug is its towing and anchor handling arrangement which is made up of an Intercon double drum towing winch that can hold 4,000' of 2¼" wire, remotely operated towing pins and a 12' stern roller.

Although Donjon Marine presently has a variety of operational missions slated for the two tugs they have not ruled out the possibility of chartering out the vessels to several parties that have expressed a heightened interest now that the ATLANTIC SALVOR and MARY ALICE are nearing completion. "With the addition of these two tugs," said Steven G. Newes, Vice President at Donjon Marine, "we are able to continue diversifying our capabilities and expand into other markets as well as being able to support our own in-house operations better than ever before."
