New Jersey towage and salvage company Donjon Marine has once again won the contract to supply salvage and salvage related services to the US Navy Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV).

The one-year contract, with four years, requires Donjon to respond to calls for assistance anywhere in the Atlantic Ocean, the US Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Baltic and Black Seas.

Since 1980, when Donjon first secured the agreement, it has recovered civilian and military aircraft; towed all types of naval vessels from submarines to aircraft carriers; freed stranded ships from reefs and beaches; cleared waterways for navigation; provided pollution abatement services; and refloated submerged vessels.

With the recent acquisition of two further ABS-classed, ocean-going tugs of 3,600hp and 7,000hp respectively and another fully-revolving crane barge with 600-ton lift capacity, Donjon is better prepared than ever to answer emergency calls. Executive vice-president John A Witte Jr comments: "Over six months of work was put into the development of the bid proposal by our team of salvage response professionals - a true example of just how optional dedicated we are to maintaining a strong salvage posture here in the US and abroad."
